ARTIST STATEMENT

I like to create art that conveys both peacefulness and connection to the natural world." -- Kristine Cummins

A California native and Napa Valley resident, Kristine Cummins has translated her professional skill and artistic talent into a wide tapestry of visual art for over 15 years. Kristine first cultivated her own connection to nature through her childhood exploration of Napa Valley's Sarco Creek. In high school, Kristine received numerous artistic achievement awards, and twice was a scholar at the California State Summer School for the Arts, where her sculpture was selected to be the focus of one of the school's annual posters.

Over the last decade, Kristine has embraced the tenets of Native American spirituality to embody her personal connection to nature. Kristine translates these natural spiritual ties into art by creating spirit paintings, which convey the essence of a person's spirit through symbolic representation using animals and other elements of nature such as earth, air, water and fire.

Though Kristine now focuses on watercolor, digital art, and website design, she has explored and mastered many media. Kristine studied painting at San Jose City College and the College of Marin, and has a certificate in Graphic and Computer Design from Platt College in San Francisco, California. She has received "Best in Show" awards from juried shows at the Oberon Gallery in Napa, and the Napa Spring and Summer Town and Country Faire. Her work has been exhibited at Napa's St. Supéry Winery, the Napa Valley Museum, and the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, California.
